Hopper Fishing

Fly fishing hopper patterns on the White River  and Norfork River is most productive in the summer months.  Our hopper season usually begins in mid June and can last well into October, with July, August and September being the prime months. There is a good number of terrestrials on the banks of both the White and Norfork rivers.

Numerous hopper patterns work well here. Tailwater fisheries require smaller flies, but that's definitely not the case during our hopper season.  The hopper patterns I use range in sizes 10 to 4 and are very productive. There is nothing like watching a 24" brown trout swim up to take a size 6 foam hopper.
